Mileage verified

Cross-referenced mileage at each service and MOT so you can spot clocking at a glance.

Coverage varies by manufacturer, and a car serviced outside the main-dealer network may return few records or none. You always get the MOT history, mileage and vehicle details.

Check a car's service history online

Every car leaves a maintenance trail. When a vehicle is serviced at a franchised dealer, the work is logged in the manufacturer's own systems against the car's VIN. A Service History Check searches those systems for you, so you can see how a car has been looked after without chasing paperwork or taking a seller's word for it. Enter a UK registration or VIN and we look the car up across 39 manufacturer brands, then return whatever the manufacturer holds alongside its full MOT and DVLA record.

What a service history check can tell you

A service record is the clearest signal of how a car has actually been treated. Where records exist, you see each dealer visit: the date, the mileage at the time, the work carried out and which dealership did it. Read against the car's MOT history and mileage trail, that lets you tell a genuinely maintained car from one that has only ever been kept minimally legal. Gaps in the timeline, long intervals between services, or a mileage pattern that does not add up are exactly the things a quick check surfaces before you commit.

Digital records have replaced the paper service book

For most of the last decade, main dealers have logged servicing digitally rather than stamping a paper book. That record sits in the manufacturer's central database, tied to the VIN, so it cannot be lost, misplaced or quietly edited the way a physical book can. It is why a missing service book no longer means a missing history: if a car was serviced at a franchised dealer from around 2012 onwards, there is a good chance the record is still on file even when the booklet is long gone.

Full service history, FSH and FDSH explained

"Full service history" (FSH) means a car has been serviced in line with the manufacturer's schedule with evidence to back it up. "Full dealer service history" (FDSH) means that servicing was carried out by main dealers specifically. Buyers and valuers treat FDSH as the gold standard because it is the hardest to fake. A Service History Check gives you the dealer-logged side of that picture in writing, so a claim of "full service history" in an advert becomes something you can verify rather than take on trust.

What we can find, and what we can't

We search the official manufacturer feed, so the report reflects what franchised dealers recorded. A car serviced mainly at independent garages, one that is very new, or a brand where coverage is thinner may come back with few dealer records or none. That is not a dead end: every report still includes the full DVSA MOT history, the mileage recorded at each test, and the car's complete DVLA specification, and an absence of dealer records is itself useful information when you are weighing up a purchase. Coverage is strongest for cars from Model Year 2012 onwards serviced within the main-dealer network, and it varies by manufacturer.

One check for buying, selling or your own records

If you are buying, run the check before any money changes hands, so the advert's claims are backed by dated facts. If you are selling, recovering the manufacturer record and attaching it to your listing removes doubt and protects your asking price. And if you simply want your own car's history in one place, the report is a single PDF you can keep, share with a buyer or hand to an insurer. It is one flat fee of £9.99, delivered instantly, with lifetime access.
